1For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, and all the presumptuous, and all those
who act wickedly will be
like chaff. And
that coming day will set them on fire, says the
Lord of hosts, who will not leave them root or branch.
2And the sun of righteousness will rise on you who fear my name, and healing
will be in its wings, and you will go out and thrive like
fatted calves of the stall.
3And you will tread down the wicked, for they will be
as ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I do
this, says the
Lord of hosts.
4Remember the law of Moses my servant, whom I commanded at Horeb, concerning all Israel,
with statutes and judicature.
5Behold, I am going to
send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible
day of the Lord,
6and he will
turn the hearts of the fathers to the sons, and the hearts of the sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth
with sacred destruction.”
