Revelation Chapter 2

1Write to the angel of the church in Ephesus, ‘He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks about in the midst of the seven golden lampstands, says this: 2I know your works and your toil and your endurance, and how you cannot bear the wicked, and how you have tested those who say they are apostles but are not, and how you have found them to be false, 3and how you have endurance and have borne up on account of my name and have not become weary. 4But I have something against you, in that you have forsaken your first love. 5So remember where it is you have fallen from, and repent, and do the former works. Otherwise, I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place, if you do not repent. 6But you have this in your favour, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.’ 7Let him who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the churches. I will allow him who overcomes to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of my God. 8And write to the angel of the church in Smyrna, ‘The first and the last, who was dead but came to life, says this: 9I know your works and your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy from those who say they are Jews but are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. 10Do not be afraid of any of the things which you are going to suffer. It will transpire that the devil will indeed throw some of you in prison, in order that you be put to the test, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful up to death, and I will give you the crown of life.’ 11Let him who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will certainly not be harmed by the second death. 12And write to the angel of the church in Pergamum, ‘He who holds the sharp double-edged sword says this: 13I know your works and where you live: where Satan's throne is, but you are holding on to my name, and you did not deny my faith in the days when Antipas my faithful martyr was around, who was killed in your location, where Satan dwells. 14But I have a few things against you, in that you have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a snare in front of the sons of Israel and to induce them to eat things offered to idols and to commit fornication, 15just as you also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitanes in a similar way. 16So repent. For if you don't, I will come to you quickly and will wage war on them with the sword of my mouth.’ 17Let him who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some hidden manna to eat, and I will give him a white pebble, and on the pebble a new name will be written which no-one will know except him who receives it. 18And write to the angel of the church in Thyatira, ‘The son of God, who has eyes like a fiery flame, and whose feet are like refined bronze, says this: 19I know your works and love and faith and ministry, and your endurance, and that your latest works are greater than the first ones, 20but I have some things against you, in that you condone your wife Jezebel, who says she is a prophetess, and who teaches and leads my servants astray into fornicating and eating things offered to idols. 21And I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her fornication. 22Watch out; I will cast her into a bed, along with those who commit adultery with her, who are heading for great tribulation, if they do not repent of her works. 23And I will kill her children with a death blow, and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches kidneys and hearts, and I will give each of you what is appropriate according to your works. 24But I say to you others in Thyatira, you who do not hold to this doctrine, you who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they say – I am not putting any other burden on you. 25But hold fast to what you are holding to until I come. 26And as for him who overcomes, and him who keeps my works up to the end,

I will give him authority over the nations,

27And he will tend them with an iron rod.

They will be shattered like clay vessels,

as I for my part have received from my father. 28And I will give him the morning star.’ 29Let him who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the churches.
