²Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,

As the eyes of a maidservant look to the hand of her mistress,

So our eyes look to the Lord our God

Until he has mercy on us.

³Have mercy on us, O Lord,

Have mercy on us,

For we have had our fill of contempt in great measure.

⁴Our being has had its fill in great measure,

With mockery from the wanton

And contempt from the proud.
