Psalms Chapter 124

1A song of David of the sundial degree markings.

If the Lord were not for us

– Do let Israel say –

2If the Lord were not for us

When a man rose up against us,

3Then they would have swallowed us alive

When their anger was kindled against us.

4Then, water would have overwhelmed us;

A torrent would have overrun our corporate existence

5– Then impudent water would have overrun our corporate existence.

6Blessed is the Lord,

Who did not give us up

As a prey to their teeth.

7Our sensation is like that of a bird that has escaped from the fowlers' snare;

The snare has been broken,

And we have escaped.

8Our help is in the name of the Lord,

The maker of heaven and earth.
